You may be able to claim your share of the property through a legal process called “Adverse Possession” if you can prove continuous, open, and hostile possession of the property for a specific period (typically 12 years) under Indian law. However, proving this can be challenging without documentation, and seeking legal counsel is recommended.

The officer summoned me to the station and demanded the remaining half. I explained I bought the flat directly, but he threatened me with losing my job and even jail time. He also threatened to come to my company and arrest me in front of everyone. I was forced to pay the amount and leave the station. The agent later told me he’d have to give the officer a cut of the fee. What should I do?

My father agreed to sell our property for 10 lakhs. The buyer initially paid 6 lakhs and got a notary made (not at the registrar’s office) stating this. He promised the remaining 4 lakhs at the time of registration, but didn’t specify a deadline. After 3 years, he paid 3 lakhs, but now we’ve changed our minds and don’t want to sell.
