My father recently passed away, and we were allotted a 1BHK flat in Santacruz East under the SRA scheme. The flat is currently in his name, and we’re looking to transfer the ownership to my mother. We’re a little lost on the process and procedures. There are agents and officials who claim they can help, but they want a lot of money, making us uneasy. Could you please guide us on how to transfer the ownership of an SRA flat from a husband to his wife after his passing?

After your father’s passing, you’ll need to obtain a Succession Certificate from the competent court. This document will establish your mother’s legal right to inherit the property.
