My father is the eldest of six brothers, and we inherited farmland from our grandfather. He moved to Pune for work and bought a small plot where we built a three-story house with a loan I took. The house is registered in my father’s name. After a decade, we built a house in our village, and since then, my uncles have refused to share the farmland with my father. They claim he doesn’t need it because I have a good job and earn well. They also demand a share of our house in Pune. We are feeling threatened by their actions. We are a Hindu-Maratha family. What legal options do we have?

Your father has a legal right to his share of the ancestral land, regardless of your income or the house in Pune. Your uncles’ claim on your Pune house is baseless. You can approach the court for partition of the ancestral land and a restraining order against your uncles’ threats.
