My father built our home on agricultural land in Dharwad, Karnataka, 15 years ago. We bought the land 20 years ago and have a copy of the sale agreement on bond paper. However, it’s a lease document. We’ve been paying taxes to the municipal corporation, have a Khata number and property ID. Many others in our area also built homes on agricultural land, and it’s now a fully residential area. But the RTC still shows the original farmer’s name. How can we convert the land to NA and get it registered in our name? We want to prove our ownership of the land and house.

You need to apply for a conversion of land use from agricultural to non-agricultural (NA) under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964. You will need to submit the lease document, property tax receipts, Khata number, and other relevant documents to the concerned authorities for processing the conversion and registration. It is advisable to consult a lawyer for guidance on the specific procedures and requirements for your case.
