My father bought a piece of land in 1977 when he was 24 years old. He worked as a laborer in a factory to afford it. The land was officially transferred to his name from my grandfather’s property with the consent of all my uncles. However, the land has never been formally divided among the brothers. My father moved to Bangalore after his marriage and has lived there for over 30 years. Now, my father’s nephew is demanding a partition of the land my father purchased. Does this land fall under ancestral property, making it eligible for partition?

The land purchased by your father in 1977 is not considered ancestral property as it was acquired through his own efforts and not inherited. Therefore, your father’s nephew has no legal claim to the land and cannot demand a partition.
