My family owns some farmland, and we want to build a small shed for our cows. Our neighbour owns the land next to ours, and there’s a big tree on his property. Its branches are growing over our land, making it difficult for us to work. We asked him to trim the branches, but he said he’s allowed to leave them be. Would it be wrong for us to cut the branches ourselves, or could we get into trouble?

Under Indian law, you can trim the branches that extend onto your property, but only to the extent necessary to prevent them from encroaching. You should ideally inform your neighbor of your intent and attempt to reach a mutual agreement. Cutting branches beyond your property line without their consent could lead to legal issues.
