My family has owned this farm since 1947, the land is registered in my name, and I’ve always paid my taxes. Now the government wants to build a road that cuts right through it. I have all the paperwork proving my ownership. What are my options?

Under Indian law, the government can acquire private land for public purposes, including road construction, by following due process under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. You have the right to receive fair compensation for your land and can contest the acquisition if you believe the process was not followed properly or the compensation is inadequate.
