My family booked a flat in a BPTP project in Faridabad back in 2009, and we got possession in December 2015. We paid 20% of the price upfront, and they promised to help us get a loan for the rest. But the loan never came through. Now they’re charging us interest on the unpaid amount, even though they said in writing they wouldn’t. We’ve registered the flat, but now they refuse to return the penalty amount we paid. What can I do?

You can file a complaint with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for breach of contract. You can also pursue legal action in a civil court to recover the penalty amount and challenge the interest charged. It is recommended you consult a lawyer to understand your specific legal options and proceed accordingly.
