Since the lease expired a year ago, you are likely only responsible for damage beyond normal wear and tear. As your son’s actions could be considered “normal wear and tear” for a young child, you may not have to pay for repainting. It’s advisable to discuss the matter with the landlord and if necessary, consult a lawyer to understand your legal obligations.
