I’ve been trying to obtain the land records (ROR) for my agricultural land in [village name] from the Tahsildar’s office since 1963. They provided records from 1984 onwards, but said they don’t have them for the period between 1963 and 1983. If the records are truly missing, where can I find them? The land is currently in dispute, so I need to get these records. What steps should I take to resolve this?

As per the Indian Registration Act, 1908, land records should be preserved by the Tahsildar’s office. If they claim records are missing, you can file a complaint with the District Collector. You can also approach the High Court for a writ petition, citing the lack of records and the legal dispute.
