I’m buying a flat in Haryana. The seller has given me registration documents, payment receipts, and an allotment letter from the builder. How can I verify these documents are genuine and not forged? How do I approach the revenue department and the builder to confirm the flat is registered in the seller’s name? How can I be sure the flat hasn’t already been sold to someone else?

You should verify the registration documents with the sub-registrar’s office where the flat is registered. Contact the builder directly to confirm the allotment letter and payment receipts. Additionally, check the property records at the local revenue department to verify the seller’s ownership and ensure there are no prior encumbrances or claims.
