Five years ago, we purchased a flat in Shahdara from a builder. We weren’t very knowledgeable about buying property back then. We’ve recently discovered that the builder didn’t construct the flat according to the approved MCD map, and hasn’t given us the original documents. We’re four flat owners in this situation. What are our rights and responsibilities now? Will the unauthorized portion of the building be demolished? How can we obtain the original property documents?

You have the right to seek legal recourse against the builder for constructing the flat without adhering to the approved MCD map and for withholding original documents. You can file a complaint with the consumer forum or approach the court for a remedy. The unauthorized portion of the building may be demolished based on the court’s order, and you can legally demand the original documents from the builder.
