Under Indian law, Muslim families can adopt children through the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956. This aligns with Islamic personal law, which allows adoption (kafalah) with certain conditions like the child’s consent and the adoptive parents’ responsibility for their well-being. The adoption must be registered with the relevant authorities.
