In India, Islamic law governs divorce for Muslims. A mutual divorce, called “Khula” or “Talaq-e-Tafweez,” requires both spouses to agree to the divorce and be represented by lawyers. The process involves filing a petition in a Family Court, and the judge will grant the divorce if the terms of the agreement are fair and just.
