My two shops have been rented out for years. One, since 1980, with a security deposit of ₹10,000. The other, in 1987, when my children were still young. I needed the extra income back then. Now, my children are grown and want to start their own businesses, but the tenants refuse to leave. I’m running a business from one shop and have a small one rented out as well. My wife also operates a studio in the basement. What can I do to get my shops back?

You have the right to regain possession of your shops, but it’s a legal process. You can approach the court to initiate eviction proceedings. However, the tenants may have rights based on the length of tenancy and any existing agreements, so a lawyer can advise you on the best course of action.
