Even without an end date, the landlord can legally terminate the tenancy with reasonable notice, typically 30 days, under the Indian law. However, you have a strong claim for continued tenancy based on your 20-year occupancy and the deposit. You should consult with a lawyer to understand your rights and options, including potentially negotiating a lease renewal or seeking legal protection against eviction.
