In India, landlords can legally demand a security deposit, but it must be clearly mentioned in the rental agreement. As it wasn’t mentioned prior to moving in, you have a right to refuse this additional payment. Regarding the rent amount, it’s subjective and depends on factors like the size, amenities, and market rates for furnished rooms in that specific area.
