I’ve written to the naval pay office three times through my unit, seeking help with income tax issues. I haven’t received any response, so I filed an RTI. The reply said the problem would be resolved within six months, but it didn’t. I filed another RTI to check the status after ten months, but got the same reply. After filing an appeal, I was accused of violating the system and my unit started harassing me, citing professional incompetence and claiming my actions are causing losses to the navy. I’m being subjected to torture even when I request leave. What should I do?

You are within your rights to file an RTI and appeal, and your unit’s actions appear to be retaliatory. You can escalate the issue by contacting the Chief of Naval Staff or filing a complaint with the Central Information Commission. You should also consult with a lawyer specializing in military law to understand your legal options and protect your rights.
