I’ve been working from home for a private company outside Mumbai for the past year since I joined. I’m now pregnant and asked for maternity leave, but they said I’m not eligible because I work remotely. Is this right? What can I do?

Under Indian law, your employer cannot deny you maternity leave based on your work location. You are entitled to maternity leave regardless of whether you work from home or in the office. Contact the Ministry of Labour and Employment or an employment lawyer to seek legal advice and file a complaint if your employer refuses to grant you leave.
