I’ve accepted a great opportunity at another company and told my manager I’m leaving. My current company wants me to serve a full 90-day notice period, but my offer letter mentions a buyout clause at their discretion. I’ve already served 30 days and don’t want to stay longer. Is there any legal way I can avoid the remaining notice period?

Indian law allows employers to enforce notice periods as per employment contracts. However, the buyout clause in your offer letter could be used as leverage. You can negotiate with your current employer to buy out the remaining notice period, citing the clause and your willingness to facilitate a smooth handover.
