I’m planning to join a new company and they’re asking me to sign a 3-year contract. It doesn’t mention what happens if I need to leave before the full term, only that I need to give 2 months’ notice. Is it okay to ask them to shorten the contract period?

Yes, you can definitely ask to shorten the contract period. While Indian law allows employers to have long-term contracts, it’s always best to negotiate terms that feel fair and reasonable. You can propose a shorter contract period or discuss options for early termination, like a penalty clause.
