I’m an LDC working in a central government office with 16 staff members, soon to be 18. I’m the only LDC, and there are no UDCs or Assistants. My head of office, the DDO, is a technical officer, leaving me to handle all administrative, accounting, and establishment work since I joined in 2011. The UDC position has been vacant since 1999, and the Assistant post since 2010. My head of office has proposed reviving the Assistant post, but not the UDC. However, due to a lack of information from the office, the department hasn’t revived the UDC. This means there’s no chance for me to become a UDC. What can I do?

You can approach the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) or the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, highlighting the workload imbalance and the lack of promotional opportunities. You can also consult a lawyer specialized in labor law to explore legal options to address the situation.
