I retired from my bank job in December 2015. Unfortunately, I fell ill and couldn’t return to work in Tinsukia, Assam. My leave application was rejected, and the bank called it unauthorized absence, penalizing me with a reduction in my increments. They even imposed this punishment twice for the same reason! Is there anything I can do legally? I’d appreciate any advice or guidance.

It appears your bank may have acted unfairly by penalizing you twice for the same reason, especially if your illness prevented you from returning to work. You can consider approaching the labor court in Tinsukia, Assam, to challenge the bank’s decision and seek redress for the reduction in your increments. It’s advisable to consult with a labor lawyer to assess your legal options and proceed accordingly.
