Hi, I’m an investment banker in India. My boss expects me to work till 10-11 PM every day and even on Sundays. If I can’t stay late due to health issues, he threatens to fire me. Is there any Indian law that protects employees from this kind of exploitation? Or is it legal for employers to treat employees this way?

Indian law protects employees from excessive working hours and threats of termination due to health issues. The Factories Act, 1948, and the Shops and Establishments Act, 1953, limit working hours and require rest days. If your employer is violating these laws, you can report them to the labor inspectorate.
