As a government employee, I’d love to share my knowledge by teaching students at different schools. I’d even be happy to receive a small honorarium for my time. Is there a legal way to do this without compromising my government position? Perhaps by starting a company or trust in my wife’s name and acting as a trustee? I’d be directly involved in teaching, so my name and schedule would be on school records. Can you advise me on the best options?

Indian government employees are generally prohibited from engaging in private employment or activities that could create a conflict of interest. A trust or company in your wife’s name wouldn’t circumvent this restriction as your involvement would still be evident. It’s advisable to consult with your department’s ethics committee for guidance on permissible side activities.
