My i20 Sportz was recently in an accident, damaging the front bumper. I filed a claim with my insurance company, but they’re giving me the runaround. They say the car already had scratches and the fog lamp was loose, even though I explained that the fog lamp was screwed in because it was falling out and the bumper had a screw because it was coming loose from the corner. They’re claiming that multiple damages aren’t covered, despite it being a major accident. I’m frustrated with their refusal to cover the repairs.

Under Indian law, insurance companies cannot deny claims based on pre-existing damage if it was not the primary cause of the accident. You have the right to appeal their decision. Consider contacting the Insurance Ombudsman or filing a complaint with the IRDAI.
