My wife and I have been travelling to the UK for the past 5 years to visit our three children who live there. Our eldest daughter is a UK citizen, our son is settled, and our younger daughter has a work permit. We’ve been visiting regularly since 2011, and recently applied for a 10-year long-term visa. However, our application was refused. The visa officer said we’ve been staying longer than the time we mentioned in our application. For instance, we stated we’d stay for 30 days, but ended up returning to India after 5 months. Even though we’ve never exceeded the 180-day limit mentioned on the UK Home Office website, our application was rejected without any chance to appeal. What should we do now? Should we try submitting a new application?

You should carefully review the visa refusal letter and the UK Home Office guidance on visitor visas. Consider seeking legal advice from an immigration lawyer specializing in UK visa applications. They can help you understand the reasons for the refusal, assess your options, and prepare a strong new application addressing the issues raised by the visa officer.
