Your husband’s actions are legally unacceptable. You have the right to live separately and he has a legal obligation to financially support you and your child. You can seek legal assistance to enforce your rights, including filing for maintenance and restraining orders if necessary.

They seem to be more powerful than the registrar and are making this process extremely difficult.

We’ve been married for five years, and before that, lived together for three. For the past year, my wife has been increasingly controlling, wanting me to cut off contact with my friends and even my widowed mother. She wants me to accept her friends and family, including her ex-boyfriend, but refuses to do the same for me. I spent the early years of our relationship with few friends, but recently started reconnecting with people. Now, they’ve become good friends to both of us. However, she’s started making false accusations about them.
