My husband and I have been married for a while now, and we live separately. Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away last year. My husband regularly visits his parents’ home, where his three brothers and their wives live with his father. One brother is very close to my husband and often asks for financial help. He also tries to persuade my husband to leave me. This has been an issue since the beginning of our marriage. Even when we lived together with the extended family, I noticed a close relationship between my husband and his brother’s wife that I don’t feel comfortable discussing. Even after separating, my husband still spends most of his money and time with his family and doesn’t seem to care about me. Is there any way I can expose this behavior? Can I file a legal case against my husband’s brother, his wife, and my father-in-law for supporting him in this?

Indian law does not explicitly recognize “interference in marriage” as a separate cause of action. You may have grounds to file a case for divorce based on cruelty or desertion, depending on the specifics of your situation and your husband’s actions. It is advisable to consult with a lawyer to assess your legal options and proceed accordingly.
