My daughter, recently divorced, is in a relationship with a Muslim man. We’re against this, but she threatens to file a case if we don’t let her be with him. She’s free to marry him, but she won’t. This is affecting our other children’s marriage prospects, and we’re worried about the impact on our family. What can we do?

In India, adults have the right to choose their partners. Your daughter’s relationship with a Muslim man is not illegal. You cannot legally prevent her from seeing him. While you can express your concerns, attempting to force her decision will likely be ineffective and could even harm your family relationships.
