My brother’s wife has filed a domestic violence case against him and our family. They’re demanding 4 lakhs in maintenance and have issued a warrant against us, which is creating a lot of stress. All the accusations against us are untrue. The warrant has been reissued from August 18th to August 30th. We are a middle-class family with responsible individuals who are working hard and cannot afford this situation. Our lawyer suggests we move and hide, but that’s not possible. We have tried to reach out to them for a settlement, but haven’t received any positive response.

Under Indian law, a warrant for domestic violence requires you to appear in court and respond to the allegations. Filing a false case is a serious offense, and you should present evidence refuting the accusations. You can request a reduction in maintenance based on your financial situation, but hiding is not the solution. It’s essential to cooperate with the legal process and seek legal advice from your lawyer.
