As a 23-year-old, you are legally an adult in India with the right to make your own decisions. You can move out, establish your own residence, and pursue your own career path without your family’s consent. However, it’s important to communicate your feelings and desires to your family openly and respectfully, while navigating the cultural expectations and family dynamics.

We registered our marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act. However, the local registrar is refusing to issue our marriage certificate, citing inter-caste issues. The village council is also creating problems, claiming I’m no longer SC because I married a Christian and threatening to revoke my caste certificate. They seem to be more powerful than the registrar and are making this process extremely difficult.
