I wanted to get my name corrected on my PAN card, but the agent I hired accidentally made a new one instead. Now, I have two PAN cards. I want to use the new one and surrender the old one after paying any taxes due on it. However, I can’t simply discard the new one because my agent has updated it everywhere. Can I surrender the old card and start using the new one officially?

You cannot simply surrender your old PAN card and start using the new one. As per Indian law, you can only have one PAN card. You need to apply for cancellation of the new PAN card and continue using your original PAN card. You can then inform concerned authorities about the change in your PAN card.
