I recently got a small, foldable Victorinox Swiss knife, like the ones everyone uses. Its blade is around 3 inches long, perfect for opening packages and cutting food at work. Do I need any kind of permission to carry this knife with me every day? Is it allowed legally? Can I get some sort of permit for it so I can carry it everywhere without any problems? What’s the best way to go about this?

Under Indian law, carrying a knife with a blade length exceeding 3 inches is illegal without a valid reason and a permit. Since your knife’s blade is 3 inches long, you do not need a permit to carry it.
