I need to update my father’s name on my birth certificate. My mom and I have all our documents with my stepfather’s name, as she remarried. Now, I need my birth certificate for my passport application, but it’s different from the rest of my documents. How can I get my birth certificate corrected? What paperwork do I need to submit?

You can apply for correction of your birth certificate through the concerned Registrar of Births and Deaths in your area. You’ll need to submit your current documents with your stepfather’s name, your mother’s affidavit stating the change in your father’s name, and a copy of your father’s death certificate.
