Salam,
I’ve been a Muslim for almost three years now, and my Islamic name is Mohammad Mudassir. I have a daughter, and from 2008 to 2014, I lived separately from my wife due to family issues. I got transferred to the Aurangabad branch, and my wife and daughter continued living with my parents, even though my parents weren’t happy about it. We had frequent arguments, but the transfer helped ease the tension.
After I converted to Islam in 2013, I told my parents, and they were concerned. They also informed my wife, who started verbally abusing me and refusing to accept me as a Muslim. What should I do?

Based on Indian law, your conversion to Islam does not automatically dissolve your existing marriage. You have the right to practice your religion, but your wife’s refusal to accept your conversion doesn’t impact the legal validity of your marriage. You may seek legal counsel to address family issues and potential disputes arising from your conversion.
