My husband, a retired army officer, has abruptly stopped coming home, eating with us, or even living here. He only shows up briefly to change clothes or take a shower. He’s blocked my access to our shared account and says he won’t give me cash anymore, but will buy whatever we need. Even then, he claims to be broke and without funds. What are my rights in this situation and what should I do?

You have the right to live in the marital home and receive maintenance from your husband. Since he is refusing to provide for you, you can file a petition for maintenance under the Hindu Marriage Act or the Domestic Violence Act. You should also consult a lawyer to understand your specific rights and options.
