My friend Dinesh Thaker wants to get a divorce from his wife. They’ve been living apart for 10 years, Dinesh in Ankleshwar (Gujarat) and his wife in Ratlam (MP). He filed a divorce case in the Ahmedabad Family Court in 2012 and it’s still pending. Now, they both want a mutual divorce. Dinesh is confused because he’s heard that the waiting period for a mutual divorce is 6 months. He’s wondering if he can withdraw his existing case and file for a mutual divorce, finishing the whole process in 2 months. Is this possible? What advice can you give him?
