You can check the status of your maintenance case online through the e-courts portal using the case number provided at the time of filing. You can definitely switch lawyers, and you should inform your current lawyer in writing of your intention. Your new lawyer can then take over the case by obtaining a vakalatnama from you and filing it with the court.
