My friend at work asked me to give him my friend’s bank account details to receive money from a friend. I did, but when we went to withdraw the money, we found it was deposited from my company! I paid my friend and asked him for Rs. 5,000. Now, a year later, my company traced the transaction and filed a case against my colleague, my friend, and me. But a month before that, my friend’s bank account was hacked and he reported it to the police.

Based on your information, your company likely filed a case for embezzlement. Your friend’s bank account being hacked could be a defense, but the fact that you facilitated the transaction by providing the account details could make you liable. The court will consider the intent and actions of all parties involved.
