The principal and police reached a compromise between the girl and the boys, but no formal police report was filed. Would this be considered sexual assault? Does the principal have the authority to act as a mediator in this situation? Can I file a separate complaint with the police about this incident?

Based on Indian law, the incident could potentially be considered sexual assault due to the unwanted physical contact and restraint. While the principal may act as a mediator, they cannot override legal proceedings. You can file a separate complaint with the police as the initial complaint didn’t result in a formal report.
