I filed a police complaint (FIR) against my husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law under Section 498A and also a Domestic Violence case, providing evidence like letters, SMS, and emails detailing threats related to dowry demands. It’s been over a month, but the police haven’t arrested anyone. They say the accused aren’t at their known addresses and court summons haven’t been served. I’ve tried contacting the protection officer at the respondent’s location to find out if the summons were executed, but they’re ignoring my calls. What can I do to ensure this case gets a fair resolution?

You can approach the court directly and file an application seeking directions to the police to apprehend the accused and expedite the service of summons. You can also file a complaint with the Superintendent of Police or the Commissioner of Police regarding the inaction of the investigating officer. The court can also issue directions to the Protection Officer to respond to your calls and provide information on the status of summons.
