I’m a co-founder in a young company, with a 25% share and an investment of around 12 lakhs. I’ve been working without salary for the past 9 months. Sadly, a recent disagreement with another co-founder led me to leave the company. I haven’t formally resigned but I’m not interested in continuing the venture. We haven’t finalized a founder agreement or received share certificates yet. What steps can I take to protect my interests? There are three stakeholders including myself.

You should immediately contact a lawyer and discuss your options. Given your 25% ownership and investment, you may be able to claim a share of the company’s future profits or assets. You should also explore the possibility of a negotiated exit, such as selling your shares back to the company or the other co-founder.
