My business used Just Dial’s advertising service in June 2017, paying for a year upfront. The marketing was so successful, I stopped setting up automatic payments. But in August, Just Dial started debiting my account again, without notice. These charges were inconsistent with our original agreement, and they’re now saying the automatic payment mandate is lifelong. Can they debit my account for amounts different from the original agreement? Can they arbitrarily decide how much to debit? Is it legal to debit my account after the agreement expired, even though I haven’t renewed the mandate? They’ve now issued an invoice, but I’m confused about my rights.

Under Indian law, Just Dial cannot unilaterally change the terms of your agreement or debit your account for amounts different from the original agreement. While automatic payment mandates can be lifelong, they should be renewed with your consent and clearly specify the amount and duration of charges. You have the right to challenge these charges and seek a refund for any unauthorized debits.
