My AC, bought in May 2015, had a persistent gas leakage problem. Despite multiple repairs, the issue recurred, leaving me without cool air for two entire summers. Despite numerous calls and emails, the company only offered temporary fixes. They finally replaced the outer coil in July 2016, but the leakage continues. Now, they say they’ll address the issue in April 2017, which is almost two years after the purchase. What are my options?

Based on the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, you have the right to demand a replacement or refund due to the persistent defect and the company’s failure to provide a permanent solution within a reasonable timeframe. You can approach the Consumer Forum to resolve the issue if the company doesn’t comply with your request.
