I booked two train tickets for Rs. 3,124 on December 31, 2016, through Makemytrip, to travel to Chennai on January 1, 2017, at 5:10 PM. On the day of travel, I received a message from the bus operator saying the journey was cancelled. Sadly, I missed that message, and when I reached the station, there was no bus until 5:30 PM. I called the bus operator’s number from my e-ticket and they claimed they had informed me about the cancellation and offered a refund. I booked a different bus and traveled to Chennai, but haven’t received my refund yet, despite calling the bus operator and lodging a complaint with Makemytrip on January 13, 2017. I haven’t received any updates from Makemytrip, and the bus operator now claims they’ve already transferred the refund. What should I do?

You have a strong case for a refund. You should file a formal complaint with the Consumer Forum within two years of the incident. Include the cancellation message, your calls with the operator, and Makemytrip’s responses as evidence. You can also seek assistance from the Indian Railways to intervene in the matter.
