My school took my phone from my car in the parking lot. I can prove it was in my vehicle and I was using it after school hours, but they won’t listen. My parents went to get it back, but the school said they wouldn’t return it for a whole year! Is this even legal? It’s been three weeks and I feel completely disconnected. What can I do?

It is unlikely that your school can legally withhold your phone for an entire year. The school’s actions could be considered unlawful detention of your property. You and your parents can consider contacting the local police or seeking legal advice to recover your phone.
