My girlfriend and I are ready to get married, but she wants a temple ceremony instead of a court or Arya Samaj marriage. Would this temple marriage be legally binding, especially if her or my family causes trouble later? We’re planning to have witnesses and record everything on camera. Is that enough for legal recognition?

A temple ceremony alone is not legally binding in India. While witnesses and recording can provide evidence, it doesn’t replace the legal requirement of registration under the Special Marriage Act or other relevant legislation. For legal recognition, you must register your marriage with the appropriate authorities.
