I live in an independent house and often smoke on my first floor balcony. My neighbour, whose window is about 15-20 feet away, has recently started complaining about it, saying that smoking in open areas is against the law. Is there any legal action they can take against me? I feel like I’m within my rights to smoke on my own property. Any advice would be appreciated.

While smoking on your balcony is generally permissible, your neighbour may have grounds to complain if the smoke significantly impacts their health or enjoyment of their property. The Indian law on smoking in public spaces is complex, and you may want to consult a legal professional to understand your specific rights and responsibilities.
