My agent promised to give me a cheque within 60 days, assuring me it would be cleared in my account after that. However, when I deposited the cheque, it bounced due to insufficient funds. What legal action can I take against him?

You can file a complaint with the police under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. This law criminalizes the issuance of a bounced cheque for insufficient funds. You can also file a civil suit against the agent for breach of contract and recovery of the amount due.
